Perceptrader AI Review: An AI Grid With a 173-Week Live Record
Perceptrader AI uses a neural network to filter signals, but underneath it is still a grid. What makes it unusual is the live record: 173 weeks, +341.04%, 6,602 trades, 17.06% max drawdown. Here's the real structure, how to read that record, and whether you can live with grid risk.

Let's be direct up front: Perceptrader AI is a grid system. The AI part is real — a neural network reads trend, momentum and volatility to filter out low-probability signals — but once a position opens, the money management underneath is a grid. The author states this plainly, and we're not going to dress it up as something else.
So why write it up separately? Because its live record is genuinely rare for the category: 173 consecutive weeks, roughly 3.3 years.
The live record (author's MQL5 signal, verifiable at source)
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Time live | 173 weeks (~3.3 years) |
| Total return | +341.04% |
| Cumulative profit | $14,055.64 |
| Total trades | 6,602 |
| Win rate | 65.66% |
| Profit factor | 1.51 |
| Max drawdown | 17.06% |
In that table, the numbers that matter are 173 weeks and 17.06% — not the +341%.
The classic way a grid dies is this: the curve looks almost like a straight line, right up until one directional run drags every averaged position under at once. Surviving 3.3 years with max drawdown under 20% means it has been through several real one-way moves without blowing up. That's worth more than any backtest — you can cherry-pick a backtest window, you can't cherry-pick 3.3 years of live trading.
The other number worth respecting is 6,602 trades. At that sample size, a 65.66% win rate and 1.51 profit factor aren't luck. And a PF of 1.51 is an honest figure for a grid — it hasn't been inflated to 5 or 6, which is the classic "many small wins, the big loss hasn't arrived yet" shape (why high win rates deserve suspicion: reading Myfxbook metrics properly).
How it actually trades
- Six pairs: NZDUSD, USDCAD, AUDNZD, AUDCAD, NZDCAD, GBPCHF — all relatively low-volatility instruments. No gold, no high-volatility majors. That's a sensible choice for a grid.
- Single chart, M5, driving all pairs from one attachment.
- The neural network decides whether to open a grid, not how to survive one. Filtering low-probability signals reduces how often grids get built, but once a grid is out, the risk structure is still a grid's.
- Risk controls are layered: maximum floating loss (as percent or amount), an FTMO-compliant daily drawdown cap, maximum total lot filter, minimum free margin requirement, and automatic suspension of new grids once thresholds are hit.
- Built-in news filter, market-crash filter, and automatic GMT offset detection.
That last control — no new grids once drawdown crosses a threshold — is one of the design decisions that likely explains the 3.3-year survival. Most grid EAs that blow up are still opening new grids at their deepest floating loss.
The price you have to accept
Now the costs. Read this part carefully:
- 17.06% is the worst drawdown that has happened, not a ceiling. Grid risk is tail risk — three and a bit years without an extreme event doesn't mean the next one won't come. Anyone promising a grid has a "guaranteed maximum drawdown" is lying to you (the full argument: are grid and martingale EAs dangerous).
- The capital requirement is real. The author suggests $6,000 at 1:30 leverage, or $1,000 at 1:100. Below that, margin runs out before the floating loss has finished playing out — which is the single most common way grids die (how to size it: how much capital to start an EA).
- A hedging account is mandatory, plus a low-spread ECN broker and a 24/7 VPS. Miss any of these and you will diverge materially from the author's live results.
- You must not intervene during floating loss. A grid earns by letting mean reversion close out the drawdown; closing manually at the worst moment converts floating loss into realised loss. If you can't sit still, don't run this category at all.
Who it suits
- Traders who already run directional strategies and want a low-correlation leg. This is range reversion, structurally uncorrelated with breakout and trend systems (how to combine: building a multi-EA portfolio).
- People who understand and accept grid risk — not people drawn in by the letters "AI".
- Adequately funded accounts that can be left alone.
Who it doesn't suit
- Small accounts. Below $1,000, don't touch this.
- Prop firm challenge accounts. Floating drawdown is deeply unfriendly to trailing drawdown rules (what to pick instead: using an EA to pass a prop firm challenge).
- Anyone who loses sleep at 10% open drawdown. A 17% drawdown in your own account is a different experience from a 17% figure on a page.
Verdict
Perceptrader AI is not a "safe" EA — no grid is. But within a genuinely dangerous category, 3.3 years live, a 6,602-trade sample, 17.06% max drawdown and a 1.51 profit factor is a solid record, and every one of those figures is verifiable trade by trade on the author's public signal.
If you were already planning to allocate to a grid, its track record length is unusual among peers. If grids were never acceptable to you, this record shouldn't change your mind.

Risk note: figures come from the author's public MQL5 signal (synced 2026-07-30) and are verifiable at source, but past performance does not indicate future results. Grid strategies carry extreme tail risk and can lose an entire account in adverse conditions. This is not investment advice — use only money you can afford to lose.
