How to Choose a Gold (XAUUSD) EA: 5 Criteria
Gold is the most popular and the most punishing symbol for EAs. Here are 5 criteria, plus how our gold EAs differ and who each fits.

Gold (XAUUSD) is volatile and trend-heavy — the favorite symbol for EAs and the one that wrecks them most. Don't pick a gold EA on its equity curve alone; assess it on these 5 criteria.
1. Live verification (most important)
Confirm a Myfxbook-verified live account first, then discuss everything else. How to check: this guide.
2. Whether you can stomach the drawdown
Gold EAs tend to draw down hard. Apply its historical max drawdown to your capital: if that loss would cost you sleep or force a liquidation, it's not for you — no matter the return.
3. Strategy type and averaging logic
Trend-following, grid, martingale — each has a temperament. Focus on whether it averages infinitely in an extreme one-way move. Grid/martingale make money in ranges and can be fatal in trends.
4. Sensitivity to spread and broker
Gold spread eats profit directly. The same EA can behave completely differently on a wide-spread account vs a low-spread ECN/RAW one. Favor low-spread conditions.
5. Parameter maturity and maintenance
Set-and-forget mature parameters beat ones you must tune daily. If you'd rather not touch parameters at all, consider managed accounts.
How our gold EAs differ
- Quantum Queen — ~12 sub-strategies of trend + grid, a long-standing gold name; read the review.
- Quantum Emperor — a more concentrated single-position style; read the review.
- Quantum Athena — the family's gold model: no martingale (per the author), 6 built-in trend-following grids, lots of reviews; read the review. (Note: the related Quantum King trades AUDCAD, not gold — don't pick the wrong one.)
Current prices are on each product page (use WELCOME10 for 10% off). Shortlist 1–2 against the 5 criteria, then run them in your own account with our backtest guide before going live.
Risk note: gold is highly volatile and any gold EA can draw down sharply in extreme conditions; past performance does not guarantee future results and this is not investment advice.

Gold (XAUUSD) spreads are wide and variable, and most gold EAs are high-frequency scalpers — extremely spread-sensitive. This breaks down the true cost of a trade and explains why a pretty backtest shrinks live.
Sharkyra Gold rates 4.1 with 10 reviews, pitching an M5 gold scalper with claims of 'no dangerous strategy' and low drawdown. This review is about not taking the copy at face value — how to verify it yourself, and how to read 'only 10 copies left' urgency tactics.
Nexorion rates 5.0 with 12 reviews and markets 'institutional-grade liquidity analysis' with no martingale or grid. This review translates the BSL/SSL and Equilibrium jargon into plain English, and reads into what a low activation cap implies.
